Fighting for a More Affordable Long Island
Lowering costs on Long Island
Long Islanders are being hit with an affordability crisis driven by the high costs of housing, utilities, child care, health care, groceries, home and auto insurance, and property taxes. Life is getting harder to afford, and people are feeling it everyday–whether they are working families, seniors on fixed incomes, or young people trying to stay close to home.
Kim knows Albany hasn’t done enough to ease that pressure. She will push for practical policies that lower everyday costs, expand access to Universal Pre-K, affordable child care and elder care, and rein in rising energy and utility bills for homeowners and renters. She will also take on price gouging and unfair practices that leave families stretched thinner every year.
Kim will support policies that make it easier to start, grow, and sustain small businesses on Long Island. Long Islanders should be able to live, work, run a business, and raise a family here without constantly worrying about being priced out. That’s the standard Kim is fighting for.

Delivering Fairness for Long Island Taxpayers
Long Island families pay some of the highest taxes in New York State. Too often, it doesn’t feel like we get enough back.
Kim has seen how Albany decisions can shortchange communities like ours. As an Assemblymember, she will work to bring more state resources back to the district–for schools, transportation, public safety, and infrastructure–so Long Islanders aren’t always asked to do more with less.
She will oppose unfunded mandates and cost-shifts that push state responsibilities onto local governments and drive up property taxes. Kim will also push for transparency and accountability so taxpayers can see where their money is actually going.
She will look for ways to decrease the tax burden and ensure we get our fair share for our tax dollars.

Standing Up for Workers
A strong middle class depends on strong protections for workers. Kim will fight for fair wages, safe working conditions, and strong benefits. She will always support the right to organize and collectively bargain, and continue pushing for paid family and medical leave and equal pay for equal work.

Ensuring Dignity for Seniors
Seniors deserve dignity, security, and the ability to age in place in the communities they helped build.

Kim will work to protect seniors from rising costs, expand access to health care and transportation, and support home- and community-based services. She will also push to crack down on scams and abuse that target older New Yorkers.

Honoring and Supporting Our Veterans
New York has a responsibility to support veterans not just with words, but with real action. Too many veterans face challenges accessing health care, housing, employment, and the benefits they earned through their service. Kim will work to strengthen state programs that help veterans navigate benefits, access health and mental health care, and find job training and employment.
She will also support veteran housing stability and protect property tax exemptions for veterans and their families.

Expanding Access to Affordable, High Quality Health Care

Kim believes health care is a human right and that every New Yorker deserves access to comprehensive, high-quality care. While federal action is necessary, it has fallen short, making strong leadership at the state level essential.
Too many New Yorkers are uninsured or underinsured and forced to delay or forgo care because of cost. These barriers contribute to unacceptable health disparities.
Kim supports a health care system that is patient-centered, not profit-driven, and guarantees access to comprehensive care, including primary and specialty care, mental health services, reproductive care, dental, vision, hearing, long-term care, and affordable prescription drugs. Kim supports the goal of universal health care and believes the transition to a single-payer system must be done carefully and responsibly.
Kim also supports strengthening the health care workforce by addressing the nursing shortage, demanding safe staffing ratios, and fixing Tier 6 to protect the retirement security of health care workers.

Strengthening Public Education
Education is personal for Kim. She started her career as a teacher, and later worked in education consulting. She has spent many years working with education-focused organizations and community groups because she understands that strong public schools are essential to strong communities and a strong democracy.

-
Funding: Nassau is home to some of the best public school districts in the country because our communities invest in quality education to set our children up for success. In the State Assembly, Kim will fight against any cuts to District 16 schools and make sure our kids, families, and teachers are getting the resources they need from Albany so we can keep our schools strong.
-
Supporting Teachers: Kim understands that investing in schools means investing in teachers. She’s proud to support fair teacher pay, collective bargaining rights, and efforts to fix Tier 6 retirement benefits.
-
Safe and Inclusive Classrooms: Students are navigating an increasingly complex world. With hate on the rise and social media becoming more influential, schools need the resources necessary to create a safe and inclusive environment for all children. That’s why Kim supports measures to combat discrimination and bigotry in schools, support students’ mental health, and ensure all learners get the services they need.
-
The Incumbent's Record: The incumbent voted against funding for public schools in the state budget. He supports Trump's reckless policy of dismantling the Department of Education, which endangers critical services for our most at-risk students.

Keeping Our Communities Safe
Promoting Public Safety
Kim knows that our local police officers and first responders provide the bedrock for welcoming, vibrant, and prosperous communities. She is proud that Nassau County has been named the safest county in America for years, but knows that real safety means more than enforcement alone. Our communities need a holistic approach that includes:
-
Fully supporting and funding our police departments, court system, and district attorneys.
-
Promoting strong relationships between the police and the communities they serve.
-
Combating gun violence head on with common sense policies.
-
Addressing the root causes of crime, including poverty and lack of career opportunity.
-
Ensuring our criminal justice system isn’t creating a revolving door for repeat offenders and violent criminals, while preventing mass incarceration for non-violent misdemeanors.

Reducing Gun Violence
Gun violence is a public safety crisis that touches families and communities across New York. Kim is a proud Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense volunteer and graduate of Everytown's Demand a Seat program who supports common-sense gun safety measures that protect communities while respecting responsible gun ownership.
In Albany, Kim will champion and enforce common sense gun safety legislation designed to keep our children and communities safer.

-
Gun Violence Legislation: Kim will work with gun violence prevention advocacy groups to advance legislation that ensures safe storage, increases training requirements, funds violence interruption programs, cracks down on ghost guns, and more to keep us safe.
-
Implementing Red Flag Laws: Next door in Suffolk County, the police are effectively disarming potentially dangerous people in record numbers, while Nassau lags far behind. In the State Assembly, Kim will look for ways to strengthen Nassau’s enforcement of Extreme Risk Protection Orders.
-
Stopping Blakeman’s Militia: Kim will stand against County Executive Blakeman’s irresponsible attempt to build an armed militia. She will always stand up for our law enforcement, and she understands that empowering untrained citizens to use firearms in the event of an emergency creates a more dangerous situation for first responders.

Investing in a Sustainable, Resilient Future for Long Island
Improving Transportation and Infrastructure
Getting around Long Island shouldn’t be this hard. Too many residents deal with long commutes, unreliable transit, and unsafe roads.
Kim will fight for more frequent and reliable LIRR and bus service, expanded off-peak options, and transit connections that link neighborhoods to job centers and schools. She will advocate for smarter infrastructure investments, including repairing aging bridges, upgrading major intersections, and adding safe bike lanes and pedestrian crossings. Kim will also push for traffic management solutions so that getting to work, school, or appointments is safer, faster, and less stressful for every Long Islander.
Protecting Our Environment and Future Resiliency
On Long Island, environmental protection isn’t abstract. It’s about protecting our drinking water, ensuring the sustainability of our infrastructure, preserving our beautiful waterfronts, and promoting public health.
Kim has been a leading environmental advocate for years, working to improve local parkland, promote biodiversity, and protect our waterways. She understands the challenges facing the region — from groundwater contamination to extreme weather and flooding.
She will push to protect drinking water, reduce plastic waste, hold polluters accountable, and invest in infrastructure that makes communities more resilient. Kim also supports clean energy and efficiency programs that reduce pollution and help families lower their energy costs.
Kim believes in increased goals for green energy production, and creating more green union jobs through infrastructure projects like offshore wind. A green future depends on an educated public, so Kim supports legislation establishing learning expectations on the environment and climate change.

The Incumbent's Record: This year, the incumbent earned a paltry 17% rating from the New York League of Conservation Voters. Long Islanders deserve an Assembly Member who is absolutely committed to protecting the water we drink, the air we breathe, and promoting the renewable energy sources we need to thrive.

Confronting Hate and Bigotry
Protecting our communities
Hate and bigotry make our communities less safe and welcoming. Kim believes elected officials have a responsibility to confront hatred clearly and consistently.

-
Throughout Kim’s career in education, she dedicated herself to promoting religious literacy and combating religious-based bigotry. Witnessing the recent surge of antisemitic attacks and other hate crimes has only strengthened her belief in the necessity for a strong, bipartisan approach to combating hate and discrimination wherever we find it.
-
Kim is deeply concerned by the rise and normalization of antisemitism here in New York and around the world and believes it demands a strong response from elected officials and law enforcement. Now more than ever, we must stand by our Jewish neighbors and proclaim that hate has no home here.
-
As a State Assemblymember, she will stand committed to fighting against hate-driven biases, including Islamophobia. Schools have an important role in cultivating attitudes of respectful curiosity about religious differences. She will advocate for comprehensive educational reforms that promote respect for religious and cultural diversity, combat prejudice, and encourage dialogue to build bridges across communities.
-
In addition to anti-bias education, Kim will advocate for increased public safety funding to protect houses of worship as well as strengthened hate crimes legislation to protect any individuals targeted because of their religion, race, sex, age, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

Defending LGBTQ+ Rights
Kim believes everyone deserves to live openly, safely, and without fear. She will protect LGBTQ+ New Yorkers from discrimination in housing, employment, education, and health care, and she will always stand up against political attacks targeting LGBTQ+ youth and families.
Equality under the law must be real, enforced, and non-negotiable.

Standing with Immigrant Communities
Immigrants are part of the fabric of life on Long Island. They run businesses, raise families, and contribute to our economy and culture in countless ways.
Kim believes New York must stand for dignity, fairness, and due process, especially at a time when federal immigration enforcement has become increasingly aggressive, cruel, and unaccountable. She supports comprehensive federal immigration reform that will provide pathways to citizenship and create an orderly, humane system rooted in the rule of law. Enforcement should respect constitutional rights and basic human dignity and never be based on racial profiling.

At the state level, Kim will work to protect access to legal and language services, push back on discriminatory practices, and make sure immigrant families can live and participate in their communities without fear. When people are afraid to seek help or report crimes, we are all less safe.

Defending Reproductive Justice
Kim has been a strong and unwavering champion for reproductive rights throughout her life and is proud of her role in passing the NY State ERA in 2024.
With reproductive rights under attack all across the country, Kim believes that New York must be a leader in protecting women’s freedom. In the State Assembly, she’ll champion legislation that expands access to reproductive services and medication, empowers providers to offer comprehensive care, addresses pre-and post-natal needs, tackles maternal mortality, and guarantees rights for patients and providers.
The Incumbent's Record: The incumbent has a 50% rating from Planned Parenthood because of his votes against reproductive freedom. That’s an “F”. Kim is running to give Long Island a real reproductive champion in the State Assembly.

Promoting Democracy and Fundamental Rights
Restoring Trust in Government
Public trust in government depends on honesty and accountability. After years of seeing elected officials abuse their power and betray that trust, Long Islanders deserve better.
Kim believes public service is a responsibility, not a perk. She will work to strengthen ethics laws, increase transparency, and hold public officials accountable when they break the law or abuse their office. No one should be above the rules.

Defending Freedom, Democracy & Voting Rights
At a time when democracy and fundamental freedoms are under attack, Kim will always stand for the right of every American to read what they want, love who they want, speak their mind, and participate in our democracy.
Our right to vote is the foundation upon which our other rights rest. Kim is proud that New York has made it easier to vote, with laws enabling early voting, expanding access to absentee and mail-in ballots, and giving more time to register, among other efforts to modernize and improve our voting system. In Albany, Kim will work to expand same-day registration, ensure the use of verifiable paper ballots, protect election workers and polling places, and promote voter participation and engagement.
